WE ARE IN URGENT NEED OF WWOOFers!
I live in the middle of Japan. A big town nearby is Nagoya. It is convenient to go anywhere in Japan. Would you like to grow and study fruits and vegetables? Fruits are mainly grapes. We cultivate 20 kinds of Japanese vegetables per year. Why do not you interact with local people and experience Japanese culture and customs?

WE ARE IN URGENT NEED OF WWOOFers!
🌎 WWOOFer Recruitment: Harappa Cafe Welcomes You!
【! URGENT CALL!】 We are looking for WWOOFers to help our kitchen after Dec 26th.

🍽️ Welcome to Your "My Kitchen" on the Road!
If you love cooking and want to share your flavor with the world, that's all you need!

Harappa Cafe in Yufuin, Oita, is an experimental community kitchen where travelers from all over the world gather to enjoy cooking at their own pace and connect with the local community.

Why not make your journey special in our warm space surrounded by a Straw Bale wall?

🧑‍🍳 No Cooking Skills Required! It's Your "Chef Experience"
What we look for at Harappa Cafe is not professional technique, but a genuine love for cooking.

Cooking is Self-Expression: In our kitchen, every WWOOFer is a "Chef." Every day, you are free to imagine and create the dishes you want to eat, and they will be served on our buffet. It's a stage where you can freely express your creativity, whether it's your home country's traditional food or a new dish you're challenging yourself with.

Direct Joy: Guests pay based on their satisfaction through our "Pay-What-You-Are-Satisfied-With" (Iine-sei) system. The plates getting empty and the grateful "It was delicious!" feedback are the greatest joy you'll get from sharing your food with others.

A Place for Learning and Discovery: This is a place where "even people who weren't very interested in cooking can discover how fun it is." The experience here might even inspire a change in your perspective or career path!

🏡 Deep Dive into Local Life: A "Lived Japan Experience"
Beyond working in the cafe kitchen (approx. 90% of the time), you'll get involved in unique activities that touch the real life of Yufuin.

Sharing with Local Farmers: We go to local farms that share their vegetables with us to help with the rice harvest or weeding. Sometimes we even go for urgent tasks before a typhoon! As a thank you, we often receive fresh produce directly from the farmers and use it in our cooking.

A Circle of Mutual Aid: We help solve the community's "little problems," like assisting elderly people living alone with large garbage cleanup or cleaning the high places of the local shrine (Omiya). Your efforts help protect the life and culture of Yufuin.

Diverse Exchange: You'll meet local people of various ages and backgrounds, including young people who work at local inns and those who gather for the "Orange Cafe" (a community space for people interested in dementia care).

✨ WWOOFer Life & Environment
Supporting Food Diversity: Vegetarians and vegans are more than welcome! We also cater to the Five Pungent Spices-Free diet (Gokun-nuki) (no garlic, onion, leek, etc.), providing a safe dining environment.

Open Space: The cafe space is open for WWOOFers until around 10 p.m. It's a great place to relax, chat with people from various countries and the local community, play games, or enjoy music.

Comfortable Stay: Both the cafe and the shared WWOOFer house have Wi-Fi, so you'll have no trouble with internet access.

Because we are a place that aims for the opposite direction of "economic efficiency, profit-seeking, and competition," you can step away from the pressure and simply enjoy cooking and connecting at your own pace.

【🚨 A Note for Winter WWOOFers (Oct. to March)】
Yufuin is located at a high elevation, and winters can be severely cold, with temperatures sometimes dropping to around minus 10°C (14°F). While the accommodation rooms have heaters and electric blankets, please be sure to bring warm clothing (especially for sleeping) to keep yourself cozy.

WE ARE IN URGENT NEED OF WWOOFers!
Regenerative agriculture is gradually becoming known through the practices of companies like Patagonia, but there are still very few people practicing it in Japan.
Tsukuyomi Farm had been experimenting with techniques like no-till farming, intercropping, and organic cultivation for 20 years before the term "regenerative agriculture" even existed.
In addition to agricultural techniques, we have also expanded the regenerative mindset and conducted various experiments.
Similar to the WWOOF system, in addition to exchanging accommodation and food for help, we provide dedicated farmland, and buy the agricultural products grown on that land at a fair price as a form of support for starting farming and becoming independent.
Over 20 people have moved to Tokushima or started farming in their hometowns through this.
Like how Tsukuyomi Farm itself is a farm x greengrocer, we pursue the possibilities of agriculture through "half-farming, half-X" initiatives, where people like half-farmer, half-web designer, writer, marketer, traveling chef, YouTuber, etc. gather and engage in various undertakings.
Regenerative agriculture has a truly great potential to solve agricultural challenges.
We encourage you to experience that potential firsthand.
Unfortunately, our local area is aging, and vacant houses are increasing. Though still a small endeavor, our dream is to utilize those increasing vacant houses, not simply reject technology, and create an international free agricultural city - a community like Auroville in India where sustainable agriculture is practiced and diverse people including foreigners interact and support each other.
Please lend us your strength as one small step towards that!
Let's enjoy it together!

WE ARE IN URGENT NEED OF WWOOFers!
Due to a cancellation, we are looking for one female participant to join us from November 1st. Thank you in advance.
Me and my wife started our new life as a farmer by reclaiming waste land near Mt. Iwaki 21years ago. Our first year of reclamation of this land we lived without electricity. First we put a bridge on creek, made a road and built our house. And now we are delivering our natural farming vegetables to our customers every week. Our vegetables are all pure bred varieties. And with these vegetables, mushrooms, and our free range chickens we are eating pretty much self-sufficiently.
We finish work at 3:30 pm every day.
We are looking forward to share our experience with you. So feel free to send message to us.

During 2years honeymoon, we did Workaway / WWOOFing in Japan, U.S, Spain, Germany and Morocco.

We saw how people live, what people believe.

WE ARE IN URGENT NEED OF WWOOFers!
We are looking for people to come here from November 20th until December 10th or from January 30th until February 12th.

Also in the summer, we graze cows all day long.
Would you like to relax while watching the cows in the pasture?
It's a long way to town, but there are mountains to hike and delicious spring water nearby.

We go skiing about 40 times every winter. If you are willing to help with the morning and evening barn work, come ski or board with us! The snow quality is great!

Notice to WWOOFers from overseas.
We want to receive WWOOFers who come here directly, without stopping on the way at other farms abroad or have been in Japan for at least one week, before coming to our place.
The reason for this, is towards the prevention of infectious diseases to our farm animals from overseas, such as foot-and-mouth disease.
We appreciate your understanding.

WE ARE IN URGENT NEED OF WWOOFers!
Hi, I’m Miyako, the manager of the Tanba Sasayama Agristation.

What we are
The Agristation, where you’ll be working, is an independent rural café and community centre catered towards young families with a plot of farmland and some animals. On the farmland we grow sweet potatoes and black edamame, a regional delicacy. We also have a rabbit and two goats and run our own English eikaiwa (academy).

What you’ll be doing
We’ve just started WWOOF and are looking for volunteers to join us to help out in various activities to keep this place running. This is varied, but mainly consists of: cleaning the café and library, taking care of the animals, cooking, washing dishes, farmwork and assisting English lessons. Typically volunteering is about 8 hours a day, 5 days a week (Tuesday to Saturday) and up to an hour taking care of the animals for the other 2 days. Twice a month you’ll get Saturdays off.

What we provide
What we offer.
Lodging, meals, and WiFi will be provided on-site. Accommodations may be in shared rooms. (It is possible that men and women will share a room, but we will make every effort to keep it private.)
In that case, please take your own breakfast and snacks from those provided. Lunch and dinner will be provided on volunteer days. Lunch will be with other WWOOFers, while dinner will be with me and my family. On weekends, you will usually cook your own meals, but occasionally my family and I will eat at the Agri-Station! Snacks are included in the meals provided.

Opportunity for cultural immersion
My family will be on site for much of the time, so you will have an experience similar to a homestay. We appreciate the richness that cultural exchange brings, and you will spend time with our family. I would like you to teach my children English and help with childcare. Also, since the Agristation is the center of the community, you will get to see everyday faces and get to know the local community. On weekends, we sometimes go out to local temples and festivals.

Location
We are based in the beautiful and peaceful suburbs of Tamba Sasayama. It has a quaint old town built in the Edo period and a castle. The agrestation itself is surrounded by rice fields and black edamame fields, with mountains in the background. Despite the quiet surroundings, the local convenience store is only a 5-minute bike ride away, and the nearest supermarket is only 10 minutes away. Kyoto, Osaka, and Kobe are also only an hour away by car (2 hours by public transportation).

About the Hosts and Their Families
I have been running Agristation since 2017. My husband and I have a son and three daughters ranging in age from 5 to 16. We love Ghibli movies, visiting shrines and temples, and exploring new places. I want to get my children to stop watching YouTube.

I’m a fairly hands on host, so you’ll see me nearly every day, so if you need my help I’m close by.

WE ARE IN URGENT NEED OF WWOOFers!
We aim to create a peaceful and sustainable life in a relatively warm area (Kamaishi City, Iwate Prefecture) facing the Sanriku Coast in Tohoku Iwate, making fields, rice fields, eco-houses and utilizing natural renewable energy. The work is mainly agriculture, preparing for the opening of the cafe, and please help with carpentry. (I would like someone with experience in DIY as much as possible.)

Both the mountain and the river are surrounded by a wonderful location where you can feel the four seasons facing Ria's coast in the environment. Also, we are making energy for ourselves and household electricity and car fuel. We are also expanding the panels for photovoltaic power generation and making Tiny House and share-house.

We are currently looking for short-term stays, but for those who wish to stay longer, we would like to set aside 2-3 days as a trial period to get to know each other. For long-term residents, you can spend time with local people, enjoy trekking and sea kayaking. I am looking for a person who can make new future together and enjoy it. Let's all come and enjoy the splendor of the area together.

We are currently looking for one person who can stay for about four nights between October 26th and 30th, and for November 7th to 15th. Looking for someone who likes cooking as much as possible.

We operate a pasture on the hill. Why not enjoy nature starting with a morning cattle drive? We are also building an animal park. If you are interested, please contact us. We are looking for people to stay for 2 weeks to 1 month. This is on top of a mountain, so there are a lot of insects and wild animals. If you don't like insects or natural environments, this is not for you. Please refrain from coming. However, we believe that this is a very good environment for those who are used to natural environments, have experience in farm work, and like animals. We look forward to meeting you.Thank you.

WE ARE IN URGENT NEED OF WWOOFers!
Hello! My name is Munehisa Shiraishi, the owner of Shiraishi Farm.
Since November 2023, we’ve been welcoming various guests, including people from overseas, to join us in growing vegetables and managing our mikan (mandarin orange) orchard.
Of course, Japanese participants are also very welcome — especially women who are interested in nature, farming, or rural island life.

We are now entering the main mikan harvest season, and we’re looking for people who can help us during this busy time.
Currently, two WWOOFers are scheduled to stay with us from October 19 to November 12, but we are in need of help from November 13 to December 19.
If you’re available during this period, we would greatly appreciate your support!

Ama Town, located on a remote island in the Oki Islands, is known for its motto: “There is nothing, but you can find here aniything.”
It’s a peaceful place surrounded by nature, where you can rediscover yourself and enjoy local island life.
During your stay, there are opportunities to join cultural exchange events such as the “Island Food Terakoya” workshops or meetings with local fishermen.

Please note that I sometimes need to be away for town council duties or part-time work at the crematorium — those days will be counted as your days off.
You can also use our automatic Jimny car (AT) for free during your stay (please return it with a full tank of gas).

We welcome anyone — men or women — who enjoys nature, farming, and spending time with others in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere.
If you’re interested, please feel free to contact us. We’d love to hear from you!
