We have an organic attitude of sorts, but we do not go out of our way to be organic or alternative, rather, we do what suits us at the time
We live as simply and as cheaply as possible but don't cut corners when it comes to good quality food and drink. We try to grow as much of our own food as possible but my garden skills often fail. My husband grows rice that's either completely chemical free or just has a small amount used on it. The guesthouses are designed to offer guests an opportunity to lessen their tourist footprint while traveling. I am always trying to improve our sustainability systems but of course this takes time and often a bit of money. At the moment Wwoofing guests have their own totally separate house. Recycling systems vary according to who is staying. We are fortunate to live in the mountains where we are surrounded by natural resources that allow us to live a life where very little goes to waste. We are always looking for help to improve our systems. The Wwoofing house is a new project and one that currently needs a lot of DIY skills or cleaning and sorting skills. If you are interested in kominka's, you will have an opportunity to live in a beautiful 100 year old house and become familiar with the old traditional way of living.

There is a beautiful old kominka that I rent that Wwoofers will have all to themselves. Part of the Wwoofers jobs may actually be helping to clean up this house. It's been empty for 15 years and has lots of character and lots of positive points but it needs lots of work in order for those positive points to shine.

I am really happy to have people work for no more than 3 hours a day. Therefore the accommodation is free but you must provide all your meal ingredients and prepare it yourself. My husband is a whizz in the kitchen but I am not. If people work longer than 3 hours with my husband you will eat the most delicious and chunky miso soup that you have ever had and will have the biggest onigiri that you have ever seen. At the Wwoofers house there is a full kitchen where you have everything you need to make your own meals.. Of course if there are items growing in the garden you are welcome to harvest and eat them.

Our names are Rosie and Tsuyoshi. We are married and have been living our Current lifestyle for about 10 years. Tsuyoshi is a rice farmer and uses none or very little pesticide. His work at certain times is very physical and tiring. There's always grass to be cut and depending on the season, weeds to be pulled. If it's rice planting season, we love to see Wwoofers barefoot and in the rice fields. It's a beautiful experience. Rosie, that's me, has two guesthouses as well as the house that Wwoofers will be staying in. I do all the guesthouse work myself. I also do the vegetable garden at home. I try to use permaculture principles and dabble with KNF. It'd like to do so much more than I presently do but I am always pressed for time and brain space. I am however never pressed for ideas. This life is full of potential and possibilities and I love dreaming about what can be done next or better. My next big project that I'm looking for help with is restoring a kominka and its old traditional kitchen area as well as creating a then making a chicken house. Wwoofers with practical skills or a trade are absolutely preferred, however at this stage there is a lot of manual preparation and cleaning and clearing of house and fields that also needs to be done so if you have two hands and two legs, you are welcome. We are a friendly couple and quite social. We encourage Wwoofers to attend the various social gatherings we attend. Tsuyoshi is an 'older' raver and he and his mates are always gathering with their speakers in some random place to exchange music, food and good vibes.
WE ARE IN URGENT NEED OF WWOOFers!
I have a lot of things to do in the garden, and my heart is pounding. Anyone who can pull out weeds is welcome. Please help with the permculture garden, help with your husband's rice fields, or clean and restore a private house that is also where you are staying. Couples are preferable. You may feel lonely if you are alone. Volunteer activities are planned to be about 3 hours a day, but you need to buy and cook your own meals. However, especially when helping your husband, we often have lunch together.
I’m having heart palpatations over all the activites that needs to be done in the garden. Anybody that can pull a weed is welcome at the moment. You would be assisting in the my permaculture garden, helping my husband in the ricefield or cleaning or restoring our kominka which is also where you will be staying. Couple are kind of preferred. If you are single you may become lonely. Please note that the amount of hours that we hope people can volunteer is only about 3 a day but you will need to buy and prepare your own food though often we all end up sharing lunch particularly if you help my husband.
