70 to 90% organic
No
We have an organic attitude of sorts, but we do not go out of our way to be organic or alternative, rather, we do what suits us at the time
We practice the 3 Rs as much as possible: reuse, recycle, repurpose, e.g. we salvaged building materials for most of the building work around the property. We also grow a fair amount of our food in season (short in Hokkaido) and help out our neighbors as and when possible and share our excess food. We don't sell produce as yet, but tend to share instead. We aim to leave the world a better place than we found it and expect our volunteers to try to do the same.

We've hosted volunteers for several years primarily via Workaway and I've volunteered in Japan as a Wwoofer, and this year much of the work I need help with is outdoor work, so I thought I would try WWOOF as my perception is that WWOOFers are more likely to be interested and knowledgeable/capable in farming, etc. I would prefer someone who can work independently in the fields/orchards and who gets on with it, so I can be free to work on building and maintenance. It would help if the WWOOFer is also interested in building and renovations as there would be opportunity to learn quite a lot. Similarly, once the basic work is done, I also want to expand into aeroponics and hope the WWOOFer is interested in that field as well. We have two small dogs and we hope you like animals as well. Otaru is well situated for outdoor sports and activities year round, and is very popular in the summer as it's not so hot; we are close to the mountains as well as the ocean and I like to go swimming in the ocean regularly...you're welcome to join my dogs and me in the ocean!
I prefer people who are interested in staying for a longer period (assuming we get along well) and invest themselves in the work and learning as much as possible. Our experience with couples is mixed; some were mature and we had a great time with them (still in contact after many years) and others were less stable and brought a lot of drama. In any event, we hope to have a great time with you!
WE ARE IN URGENT NEED OF WWOOFers!
Help us garden organically and renovate houses in Otaru!
