70 to 90% organic
We have an organic attitude of sorts, but we do not go out of our way to be organic or alternative, rather, we do what suits us at the time
We grow a small vegetable garden at home and enjoy cooking with seasonal produce.
We like making traditional preserved foods like miso and umeboshi (pickled plums).
We compost our kitchen scraps and try to keep waste to a minimum.
We choose natural cleaning products and simple, wholesome ingredients.
We don’t watch TV and instead enjoy quiet time and conversations as a family.
We try to use things for as long as possible and avoid throwing things away unnecessarily.
We live with our young child, so our days start early and end early too.

We are a family living a gentle, slow-paced life in Ōita Prefecture, where we also run a small alternative school for 14 elementary and junior high school-aged children who do not attend public school.

Although our home and workplace are not in a particularly nature-rich area, we cherish the rhythm of daily life and try to find learning and joy within it.

We grow vegetables in a small garden, make preserved foods like miso and pickled plums, and use a compost system to recycle food scraps. Through these hands-on, time-consuming practices, we stay connected to the seasons and the rhythm of life.
We don’t have a TV—instead, we prioritize time for reading and conversation with our family and the children. We choose natural products for things like detergents and seasonings, and try to live with care and intention, doing what we can within our means.

Our school is a place where children who don’t attend mainstream schools can come and feel safe. Rather than focusing on teaching academic subjects, we value natural interactions through shared experiences—working in the garden, cooking, crafting, or simply playing together.

We’d love for WWOOFers to join us in our everyday life—helping in the vegetable garden, tending to the yard, cooking, cleaning, and making preserved foods.

We believe that our lifestyle may resonate deeply with those who are drawn to exploring themselves and learning through time spent with children.
On the other hand, our environment may not be ideal for those who are uncomfortable around children or who find noise and energy overwhelming—since you’ll be spending time with children both at work and at home (including our own energetic three-year-old “little monster”!).

Spending time with children can be quite demanding, but it also brings many quiet yet profound opportunities for reflection and self-discovery.

While our way of life isn’t perfectly organic or built around an ideal vision of farming, we are doing our best to live in a way that feels good to us and stays connected to nature.

We look forward to welcoming people who are interested in this kind of lifestyle and learning to spend time together.
WE ARE IN URGENT NEED OF WWOOFers!
