After spending many years living in Southeast Asia and the United States, I was blessed with a special opportunity to settle in Karatsu City, Hamatama Town, just 20 minutes by car from Itoshima, Fukuoka. Here, in the mountains, I now own a 120-year-old traditional Japanese farmhouse with about 10 hectares (roughly 25 acres) of farmland and forest.

From the house, you can enjoy a sweeping view of Karatsu Bay. A clear stream runs right beside it, with a small waterfall. Summers are cool enough to live comfortably without air conditioning, and there is fresh, delicious spring water to drink. Nearby, there is a waterfall selected as one of Japan’s 100 Best Forest Bathing Spots, filled with negative ions.

The house sits halfway up the mountain, and above this point there are no other homes. I hope to create a place where we grow fruits and vegetables with no fertilizer and no chemicals, save and share our own seeds, and restore true health. Apples, peaches, plums, mandarins, loquats, grapes, kumquats, amanatsu, figs, walnuts, and persimmons will be planted, along with strawberries, taro, carrots, eggplants, tomatoes, blueberries, and more.

I also plan to make umeboshi and miso, create persimmon tannin, prepare enzyme juices from fruits and wild herbs, make wax and candles from Japanese honeybees’ beeswax, and build compost. Life in the countryside is always full of things to do.

This is a place to practice a truly sustainable and regenerative lifestyle, so that we can preserve the clean air, water, and soil we are fortunate to have.
I am looking for friends and companions who sometimes want to touch the soil, enjoy life in the countryside, and share this way of living.
WE ARE ACCEPTING WWOOFers

We are warmly welcoming people who would like to help us with our mandarin orchards and organic farm!
At the moment, we are also renovating a 120-year-old traditional farmhouse. If you have experience—or simply an interest—in DIY projects such as flooring, plastering with natural lime, or wall paneling, we would be delighted to have you join us.

Those who are passionate about permaculture garden design, landscaping, vegetable growing, or fruit cultivation are especially welcome.
If you love cooking with natural ingredients or enjoy making sweets, you’ll also find many opportunities here.

We sometimes host workshops such as tree bark peeling and thinning, and we would be very happy to meet people skilled in woodworking as well.
