しらいしファームでは、これまで国内外から、初めてWWOOFを経験される方も含め、さまざまなゲストをお迎えしてきました。
分からないことがあっても、作業や生活を一緒に進めながら、少しずつ慣れていけば大丈夫です。
自然に囲まれた離島で、無理のないペースで農作業をしながら、落ち着いた時間を過ごしたい方に向いている環境です。
特に、にぎやかすぎる場所よりも、静かで丁寧な暮らしを楽しみたい方には、心地よく感じていただけると思います。
ここは誰にでも合う場所ではありませんが、合う方にとっては、かけがえのない体験とご縁になると思います。
■ 年間のおおまかな作業内容
季節ごとの主な作業は、以下のような流れになります。
天候や畑の状況により、内容や時期は多少前後します。
春（3月〜5月）
剪定、草刈り、苗や畑の手入れ
夏（6月〜8月）
草管理、防除作業、収穫に向けた準備
作業後や休日には、近くの海で泳いだり、島の自然を楽しむこともできます。
秋（9月〜12月）
みかんの収穫、選果、箱詰め作業
一年で一番忙しく、にぎやかな時期です。
冬（1月〜2月）
袋詰め・出荷作業、畑の整備、来シーズンに向けた準備や種まき
■ 作業日数・作業時間について
作業は週6日・週1日はお休みを原則としています。
1日の作業時間は6時間程度を目安にしています。
通常期
9:00〜12:00 ／ 13:00〜16:00
夏場
6:00〜9:00 ／ 15:00〜18:00
なお、あまりにも暑すぎると判断した場合は、無理をせず早めに作業を切り上げるなど、体調と安全を最優先にしています。
■ 募集期間について
しらいしファームでは、年間を通してウーファーさんを受け入れています。
季節によって作業内容は変わりますので、それぞれの時期ならではの農作業や島の暮らしを体験していただけます。
滞在時期や期間については、作業内容や受け入れ状況に応じて調整可能ですので、まずはお気軽にご相談ください。
短期間の参加、途中からの参加・途中までの滞在も歓迎しています。
ただし、受け入れ時期によっては、我が家の宿泊スペースや受け入れ人数のキャパシティの都合により、お断りする場合があります。

■ 宿泊環境・安全面について
複数名のウーファーさんを同時期に受け入れることが可能です。
男女のウーファーさんが同時に滞在される場合は、必ず別部屋を用意し、安心・安全に過ごしていただける環境づくりを大切にしています。
お互いを尊重し、気持ちよく過ごせる雰囲気を大切にしています。
■ 海士町（あまちょう）について
海士町は「ないものはない」という考え方で知られる離島で、豊かな自然と温かい人々が魅力です。
滞在中は地域の方との交流に加え、島外から「大人の島留学制度」で来ている20代の日本の若者たちと交流する機会もあります。
■ 移動手段について
滞在中の移動については、基本的に徒歩・自転車・公共交通機関での対応をお願いしています。
状況に応じて必要なサポートは行いますが、車の貸し出しは現在行っておりませんので、あらかじめご了承ください。
不便さも含めて、この島ならではの暮らしを楽しんでいただけたら嬉しいです。

なお、18〜20歳の方につきましては、海外での長期滞在経験がある方、もしくは日本語で日常会話ができる方のみ受け入れ可能としています。

農作業では時間管理がとても重要です。
寝坊や時間管理が苦手な方は、申し訳ありませんが受け入れが難しい場合があります。
朝食・昼食は自分で準備できること
朝・昼ご飯は各自で準備をお願いします。
食材は我が家にあるものを使っていただいて構いません。
共用スペースの使用について
キッチン・トイレ・お風呂・洗濯機などは、ウーファーさんや家族みんなで使用する共用スペースです。
キッチンで食事を準備することは歓迎していますが、キッチンや共用スペースを長時間占有することはご遠慮ください。
特に複数のウーファーさんが滞在している場合は、他の人も利用できるよう、譲り合って使用してください。
お互いに気持ちよく共用スペースを使えるよう、ご配慮いただけると嬉しいです。
使った食器や調理器具を片付けられること
使ったお皿・鍋・調理器具などは、その日のうちに洗って元の場所に戻してください。
困ったことがあれば、すぐに相談できること
作業内容や生活面で分からないこと、不安なことがあれば、遠慮せずすぐに相談してください。
分からないことをそのままにせず、コミュニケーションを取ることを大切にしています。
商品を扱っているという意識を持つこと
野菜やみかんの出荷作業を手伝っていただくことがあります。
これらは販売する商品ですので、遊び感覚では行わないでください。
作業中に音楽を聴くことは構いませんが、日本の文化や言葉を学ぶ姿勢として、できるだけコミュニケーションを取ろうとする態度を大切にしてください。
虫が出る環境であることの理解
就寝中などに虫が突然出てくることがあります。
殺虫剤は各部屋に置いていますが、虫が極端に苦手な方はご遠慮ください。
長靴・手袋のサイズについて
長靴や手袋は用意していますが、すべてのサイズは揃っていません。
可能であれば、手・足のサイズをS / M / L / XL / XXLで事前に教えてください。
室内は土足禁止です
家に入る前に、必ず靴や長靴を脱いでください。
これは日本の一般的な生活習慣です。
言語・コミュニケーションについて
当園の施主は、英語を完璧に話せるわけではありません。
翻訳アプリやツールを使いながら、コミュニケーションを取る努力をしてください。
また、「玄関（genkan）」など、日常生活で使う基本的な日本語単語を少しずつ覚えようとする姿勢を大切にしています。
言葉と意味を結びつけて学ぶ態度は、とても歓迎されます。
しらいしファームでは、農作業だけではなく、人と人との出会いや、島での暮らしそのものを大切にしています。
農業経験が豊富でなくても構いません。
大切なのは、分からないことを学ぼうとする気持ち、時間や約束を守ること、そして一緒に暮らす人への思いやりです。

At Shiraishi Farm, we have welcomed many guests from Japan and overseas, including people experiencing WWOOF for the first time.
If there are things you don’t understand at first, that’s perfectly okay. You can gradually get used to the work and daily life here as we do things together.
Our farm is located on a small remote island surrounded by nature. It is a good environment for people who would like to enjoy a peaceful and relaxed time while doing farm work at a reasonable pace.
If you prefer a quiet and simple lifestyle rather than a busy or crowded place, I think you may find life here comfortable and enjoyable.
This place may not be suitable for everyone. However, for those who feel that it is the right place for them, I believe it can become a truly meaningful experience and connection.
■ General Seasonal Farm Work
The main types of work throughout the year are roughly as follows.
The timing and specific tasks may change depending on the weather and the condition of the fields.
Spring (March–May)
Pruning, grass cutting, and taking care of seedlings and fields.
Summer (June–August)
Grass management, pest and disease control, and preparation for the harvest.
After work or on days off, you can also enjoy swimming in the nearby sea and exploring the island's natural surroundings.
Autumn (September–December)
Mikan (mandarin) harvesting, sorting, and packing.
This is the busiest and most active time of the year at our farm.
Winter (January–February)
Packing and shipping, maintaining the fields, preparing for the next season, and sowing seeds.
■ Working Days and Hours
As a general rule, we work 6 days per week, with 1 day off.
The working time is approximately 6 hours per day.
Regular season:
9:00–12:00 / 13:00–16:00

When we feel that the weather is simply too hot, we may finish work earlier rather than pushing ourselves.
Your health and safety always come first.
■ Hosting Period
Shiraishi Farm welcomes WWOOFers throughout the year.

Your preferred dates and length of stay can be discussed according to the work available and our hosting situation, so please feel free to contact us first.

■ Accommodation and Safety
We are able to host multiple WWOOFers at the same time.
When male and female WWOOFers are staying at the same time, we always provide separate rooms and place importance on creating a safe and comfortable environment for everyone.
We value mutual respect and want everyone to feel comfortable during their stay.
■ About Ama Town
Ama Town is a small remote island community known for the idea of “Nai Mono wa Nai,” which can be loosely understood as “We have everything we need.”
The town is surrounded by beautiful nature and is known for its warm and welcoming local community.
During your stay, you may have opportunities to interact not only with local people, but also with young Japanese people in their 20s who have come to the island through the “Adult Island Study” (Otona no Shima Ryuugaku) program.
■ Getting Around
During your stay, we generally ask you to get around by walking, bicycle, or public transportation.
We will provide necessary support depending on the situation, but we currently do not lend out a car.
Please understand this in advance.
We hope you will enjoy the unique island lifestyle here, including the occasional inconvenience that comes with living on a remote island.

To make the hosting experience smooth and comfortable for everyone, we would appreciate it if you could communicate with us sufficiently in advance about:

■ What We Value at Shiraishi Farm
At Shiraishi Farm, we welcome people who are willing to take agriculture seriously as real work.
Regardless of age, we value connections with people who can approach their work with responsibility.
Although stays are generally relatively short, we value each encounter as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and hope to spend meaningful and memorable time together.
For applicants aged 18–20, we can accept those who either have previous experience with a long-term stay overseas or are able to communicate in everyday Japanese.
【Important Information｜For First-Time WWOOFers Aged 18–20】
The following points are especially important for people aged 18–20 who are experiencing WWOOF for the first time.
Please send a connection request or message only if you can agree to these conditions.
These are important guidelines for making sure everyone can enjoy their stay together.
Being Punctual
Time management is very important when working on a farm.
If you have difficulty getting up on time or keeping to schedules, it may be difficult for us to accept you.
Preparing Your Own Breakfast and Lunch
You are responsible for preparing your own breakfast and lunch.
You are welcome to use the food and ingredients available in our home.
Using Shared Spaces
The kitchen, toilet, bathroom, washing machine, and other facilities are shared spaces used by the WWOOFers and our family.
You are welcome to prepare your own meals in the kitchen. However, please do not occupy the kitchen or other shared spaces for long periods of time.
Especially when multiple WWOOFers are staying with us, please be considerate and allow others to use the shared facilities as well.
We appreciate your cooperation in sharing these spaces comfortably with everyone.
Cleaning Up After Yourself
Please wash any dishes, pots, pans, and cooking utensils you have used and return them to their original places on the same day.
Please Ask When You Have a Problem
If you have any questions or concerns about the work or daily life here, please do not hesitate to ask.
We value communication and would rather you ask us than keep a problem or concern to yourself.
Understanding That You Are Handling Products for Sale
You may sometimes help with packing and shipping vegetables and mikan.
These are products that we sell, so please do not treat this work casually or like a game.
Listening to music while working is allowed. However, we also value an attitude of trying to communicate with us as part of learning about Japanese culture and language.
Understanding That There Are Insects
Because we live and work in a natural environment, insects may suddenly appear, including while you are sleeping.
We provide insecticide in each room, but if you are extremely uncomfortable with insects, please consider whether this environment is suitable for you before applying.
Work Boots and Glove Sizes
We have work boots and gloves available, but we do not have every size.
If possible, please tell us your hand and foot sizes in advance:
S / M / L / XL / XXL
No Shoes Indoors
Shoes and work boots must always be removed before entering the house.
This is a common Japanese household custom.
Language and Communication
Your host is not fluent in English.
Please make an effort to communicate with us using translation apps or other translation tools when necessary.
We also appreciate people who are willing to gradually learn basic Japanese words used in daily life, such as “genkan” (entrance area).
We value the attitude of learning by connecting words with their meanings and using them in everyday situations.
At Shiraishi Farm, we value not only the farm work itself, but also the connections between people and the experience of island life.
You do not need to have extensive farming experience.
What matters to us is your willingness to learn, your ability to keep promises and respect schedules, and your consideration for the people you are living and working with.

■ Accommodation and Safety
We are able to host multiple WWOOFers at the same time.
When male and female WWOOFers are staying at the same time, we always provide separate rooms and place importance on creating a safe and comfortable environment for everyone.
We value mutual respect and want everyone to feel comfortable during their stay.
■ About Ama Town
Ama Town is a small remote island community known for the idea of “Nai Mono wa Nai,” which can be loosely understood as “We have everything we need.”
The town is surrounded by beautiful nature and is known for its warm and welcoming local community.
During your stay, you may have opportunities to interact not only with local people, but also with young Japanese people in their 20s who have come to the island through the “Adult Island Study” (Otona no Shima Ryuugaku) program.
■ Getting Around
During your stay, we generally ask you to get around by walking, bicycle, or public transportation.
We will provide necessary support depending on the situation, but we currently do not lend out a car.
Please understand this in advance.
We hope you will enjoy the unique island lifestyle here, including the occasional inconvenience that comes with living on a remote island.
■ Please Communicate With Us Before Sending a Connection Request
To make the hosting experience smooth and comfortable for everyone, we would appreciate it if you could communicate with us sufficiently in advance about:
Your preferred dates
The length of your stay
Questions about the farm work
Any concerns or questions about staying here
We would like to have enough communication beforehand so that both sides understand and agree with the arrangements before you send a connection request.
Rather than sending a connection request immediately, we would be happy if you contacted us first and had a casual conversation with us.
We welcome people of all genders who enjoy smiling, communicating, and spending time together.

■ What We Value at Shiraishi Farm
At Shiraishi Farm, we welcome people who are willing to take agriculture seriously as real work.
Regardless of age, we value connections with people who can approach their work with responsibility.
Although stays are generally relatively short, we value each encounter as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and hope to spend meaningful and memorable time together.
For applicants aged 18–20, we can accept those who either have previous experience with a long-term stay overseas or are able to communicate in everyday Japanese.
【Important Information｜For First-Time WWOOFers Aged 18–20】
The following points are especially important for people aged 18–20 who are experiencing WWOOF for the first time.
Please send a connection request or message only if you can agree to these conditions.
These are important guidelines for making sure everyone can enjoy their stay together.
Being Punctual
Time management is very important when working on a farm.
If you have difficulty getting up on time or keeping to schedules, it may be difficult for us to accept you.
Preparing Your Own Breakfast and Lunch
You are responsible for preparing your own breakfast and lunch.
You are welcome to use the food and ingredients available in our home.
Using Shared Spaces
The kitchen, toilet, bathroom, washing machine, and other facilities are shared spaces used by the WWOOFers and our family.
You are welcome to prepare your own meals in the kitchen. However, please do not occupy the kitchen or other shared spaces for long periods of time.
Especially when multiple WWOOFers are staying with us, please be considerate and allow others to use the shared facilities as well.
We appreciate your cooperation in sharing these spaces comfortably with everyone.
Cleaning Up After Yourself
Please wash any dishes, pots, pans, and cooking utensils you have used and return them to their original places on the same day.
Please Ask When You Have a Problem
If you have any questions or concerns about the work or daily life here, please do not hesitate to ask.
We value communication and would rather you ask us than keep a problem or concern to yourself.
Understanding That You Are Handling Products for Sale
You may sometimes help with packing and shipping vegetables and mikan.
These are products that we sell, so please do not treat this work casually or like a game.
Listening to music while working is allowed. However, we also value an attitude of trying to communicate with us as part of learning about Japanese culture and language.
Understanding That There Are Insects
Because we live and work in a natural environment, insects may suddenly appear, including while you are sleeping.
We provide insecticide in each room, but if you are extremely uncomfortable with insects, please consider whether this environment is suitable for you before applying.
Work Boots and Glove Sizes
We have work boots and gloves available, but we do not have every size.
If possible, please tell us your hand and foot sizes in advance:
S / M / L / XL / XXL
No Shoes Indoors
Shoes and work boots must always be removed before entering the house.
This is a common Japanese household custom.
Language and Communication
Your host is not fluent in English.
Please make an effort to communicate with us using translation apps or other translation tools when necessary.
We also appreciate people who are willing to gradually learn basic Japanese words used in daily life, such as “genkan” (entrance area).
We value the attitude of learning by connecting words with their meanings and using them in everyday situations.
At Shiraishi Farm, we value not only the farm work itself, but also the connections between people and the experience of island life.
You do not need to have extensive farming experience.
What matters to us is your willingness to learn, your ability to keep promises and respect schedules, and your consideration for the people you are living and working with.
