- Specialty in dry soil agriculture research. A farming method in which we don't have to water the plants after the initial planting.
- We also grow melon and watermelon using this same method.

100% organic

Yes

We have an organic attitude of sorts, but we do not go out of our way to be organic or alternative, rather, we do what suits us at the time

We try to create our own as sustainable as possible. But this is a long process and takes time to create. We do the best with what we've got. we do not eat at fast food restaurants, we do not watch TV, we do not smoke, we recycle as much as possible.

On the farm we also re-use everything we can!

  • We usually eat vegetables and rice but we have meat and fish if we are given it
  • We do not use eggs or dairy products
  • We put great effort into how to cook and what to eat
  • We cook mainly Japanese meals
  • We cook various international meals
  • We sometimes cook Asian types of food
  • We sometimes cook Western types of food
  • Our own grown vegetables generally
  • We always cook homemade meals
  • We never buy obento (lunch boxes) at convenience stores and supermarkets
  • We never eat fast food such as McDonald’s and KFC, etc.

We do not drink at all. However if WWOOFers want to drink, they can bring their own drink but it has to be a little amount and of course it must not interfere with WWOOFing

No, nobody smokes

We live in a renovated wooden-built elementary school. The small village in which we are located used this place as a school, until it closed. The current landlord of the place has only rented it out to people who wish to do something for the community and sustainability.

Basically anyone who wants to learn from the sustainable community is welcome at our place! As long as we can communicate well before your arrival so everything is clear to both of us.
We also welcome someone who is seeking to learn organic greenhouse farming method without irrigation system.

We are a small community and sometimes have other guests over as well. So farming is important, but depending on the season and situation we might require other work within and around the house.

A WWOOFer who is willing to help with any given task such as doing dishes or preparing the table for dinner (besides the farm work)- we greatly appreciate!

We live in a renovated wooden-built elementary school. We do have a couple rooms, but depending on how many people are currently staying and amount of guests/WWOOFers we might ask you to stay in a tent in the garden. (up til now we have only had 1 volunteer stay in a tent). Of course if you do not like to stay in a tent, but rather indoors we can always discuss it and try to give you a place.

  • Usually with the Host
  • With other WWOOFers, trainees, etc.
  • Normally WWOOFers fix breakfast for themselves using ingredients we give them. We have lunch and dinner together
  • Other

We usually cook and eat together. Breakfast is usually something small like some fruits or a smoothie. In case a WWOOFer wishes to eat more for breakfast, we ask them to prepare it themselves.

Lunch we eat the left-overs from dinner from the night before (if we have any). And for dinner we usually cook something new.

We can cook for even Vegans

Yes, at a designated location

  • Yes, but it is limited

It depends on the activities we are doing at our place at the time, however, we usually have time to communicate with WWOOFers

The 'main' farmer and researcher (the host's father) is Japanese. He also speaks Russian and some English (he tries very hard!)

The host(s) speak English, Japanese and Dutch.

If you are open to new experiences and learning different things it's definitely a fun and educational time to stay at our place.

We really appreciate the help WWOOFers give in exchange for (delicious) food and a place to stay.

In case you have any questions before being able to decide whether you want to stay or not, please do not hesitate to message us! We'll gladly answer all your questions.
WE ARE IN URGENT NEED OF WWOOFers!

We need some help for our organic farming, but also related to our guesthouse "Dana Village" project.
Please have a look our danavillage website too. danavillage.com
We need WWOOFers mostly from the end of March to December. We welcome people who are sincerely looking for experiences with a sustainable, authentic lifestyle with a vegan diet. (You don't have to be vegan, but what we provide is 99% plant base.)
