Our Mission |
 |
Our mission is to provide a means for friendship between people, Host and WWOOFers
Some of the ways we do this include:
Helping Japanese organic farmers meet others
Facilitating Japanese organic farmers to meet other organic farmers, non or partial organic farmers, local government people, researches, and people in general both in Japan, and from countries outside Japan.
Education
To education people about the environment, nature, and the worth of quality locally grown & prepared food. To lead the life of a thinking person. To eat and live organically!
A stepping stone
A stepping stone for people who want to leave Japanese mainstream city life, company employee kind of occupation, etc., to move to the country and to run their own organic farm.
Bridging the city & country
A bridge for city people and country people to meet and exchange.
Japanese culture at a grass roots level
We introduce people from overseas to Japanese culture at a grass roots level, by meeting local people in small towns. Promoting other WWOOF groups
We actively direct Japanese people to WWOOF local groups around the world, promoting our sister groups in Japanese language at all sorts of local farming events, university and colleage events, environmental awareness gatherings, travel events, learning & study workshops, etc.
Handbooks for other WWOOF groups
We offer Handbooks for WWOOF Australia, and WWOOF NZ, delivered usually in one or two working days to any address in Japan.
Turning Japanese people onto WWOOFing
A primary focus domestically is introducing Japanese people to WWOOF who would have otherwise joined a travel group, or joined a study course, in order to do the travel and learning they want to do. Our optional extra support service for Japanese WWOOFers going overseas (Kaigai Support) is one such effort. While experienced WWOOFers might be attracted to WWOOF because of it is inexpensive and do it yourself nature, we find that many of the Japaneses people who ask us to support them with our Kaigai Support, simply would not have gone WWOOFing in the first place if they had had to do it all themselves. Yet, usually once they have been once via our Kaigai Support, the next time they usually do do it themselves, as most WWOOFers do. In this way, we are converting people to WWOOF, and this is a big part of our mission.
Towards quality & accountability
Without exception, we insist all WWOOFers and Hosts are current members of WWOOF Japan. It is a first & fundamental step towards accountability, fairness, and endeavor to have WWOOFing in Japan the best experience it can be for all concerned. Those who ignore WWOOF rules pay a penalty equal to at least one membership payment for each person involved in the wrongdoing, or have their membership revoked. Key to what we do is:
