Hosts give WWOOFers accommodation and all meals in return for the WWOOFer assisting the Host. Hosts also give WWOOFers various knowledge and skills as result living and working with them, Japanese culture & Japanese language, and other resources most often outlined in the Hosts' Preview. There is no payment of money between Host and WWOOFer. WWOOFers need to pay just the yearly WWOOF membership fee, 5,500 yen (It is about 55 US dollars). WWOOFing starts by sending an online application form.

Hosts include organic farmers, usually not using much machinery and instead using their hands to grow safe and fresh vegetables, fruits, and tend to animals.

We also have Hosts involved in many other activities including health and healing centers, pottery and arts, building and restoring traditional homesteads, timber working places, organic restaruants, martial arts, dealing with animals, Japanese tea house, pension in ski fields area, eco village, brewing and production of foods, fishing, bee keeping, nature guide centre, centers for the environment, sea kayaking, and more.

WWOOFers help Hosts for about 6 hours a day. One day off per week if you are WWOOFing at a same Host for more than one week.

We have many WWOOFers in their 20's and 30's however there is no age limit; you can be 75 years old, and you can be 19 years old. You need to have energy to help Hosts. If you are under 16, you need to be with an adult WWOOFer.

About WWOOF Japan
Each WWOOFer must complete our online application, pay, and become a member of WWOOF Japan before Hosts are contacted. WWOOF Japan is an annually renewable membership. We have hundreds of Hosts, many accept WWOOFers all year round. We are adding Hosts each month, and usually send notice of new Hosts to our mailing list. Host information is available in Japanese and English.

What do I get with my WWOOF Japan membership?
For the annual membership fee of 5,500 Japanese yen, you get a dynamically generated WWOOFer Permit which demonstrates to Hosts that you are a current member of WWOOF Japan. A brief history of WWOOF

The first WWOOF organization originated in the Europe in the 1970s, and spread to more than 40 countries throughout the world, some of the leading groups today being Australia, New Zealand, and us in Japan. 'WWOOF' began as an organic farming movement, but, these days other kinds of places where people & families are involved in all kinds of lifestyles and activities are becoming Hosts, thereby giving WWOOFers access to a greater diversity of experience and learning. Organic ways of thinking, and sustainable lifestyles, are a growing part of the WWOOF experience.
